In today's day and age, we are bombarded with information about nutrition. With so many contradicting views, how are we to know what the right fuel is for our bodies? Well, let's go back to the beginning.
Everything in life is all about balance. If something is too restrictive, something else is too relaxed. If we take time to rest, we must also take time to move. Movement supports balance in our body, from our muscles to our minds.
Our bodies are about 60% water. Hydration, or the lack thereof, affects us down to the very cells in our body. Every biological process is dependent on water, from breathing to digestion.
The sun is an established energy source needed to sustain the cycle of life for plants, animals, and humans. This energy cannot be manufactured. The effects of sunlight on our bodies are felt within: from balanced hormones and beyond.
In other words, self-control. This virtue directly affects the state of our well-being. If we refrain from overindulging in food or drink, if we control how we respond to our feelings, not only will we be happier, but our bodies will not be left to suffer.
The most essential element to sustain life is oxygen. Without food, you'll die in a few weeks. Without water, you'll die in a few days. Without air, you'll die in a few minutes. Yet, the quality of the air we breath matters. Fresh air has more to do with health and healing than we realize.
Burnout is real. Too many people are running on coffee and cortisol. But what is rest? The term encompasses a lot of meaning. It goes beyond physical rest such as sleeping, and even beyond ourselves.
